Inspired by Green Garden’s Juice Bar and Health Food Store on White Plains Road, I stumbled across this delicious and addicting green juice recipe while reading the Ghetto Gastro.

Black-owned grocers and health food stores are nothing new, so I was not surprised to stumble across this recipe or to hear there was yet another Black health food store. See, Black people are resilient. The stories of our ancestors remind me of my purpose for being on this planet, which is to connect with nature.

This natural juice is more than fruits and vegetables. To me, it is a significant indicator of wealth. Carving out 2 hours of my night to make green juice for the week set the par excellence for optimizing my time. Instead of in the bars, clubs, and streets, I turned to TradingView, YouTube, and books.

Enough finance bro talk; let’s get to the bag— I mean, juice recipe.

Green For the Money Juice

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2 organic cucumbers, halved

  • 6 organic celery stalks

  • 8 curly organic kale leaves (your preference of kale)*

  • 2 cups of loosely packed organic baby spinach leaves

  • 2 (1- to 2-inch/3 to 5 cm) pieces of organic ginger.

  • 2 large (or 4 small) organic Granny Smith apples, cored

  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice

  • Black seed oil for finishing

  • Juicer*

Preparation:

Working in batches as needed, use a high-powered juicer to juice the cucumbers, celery, kale, spinach, ginger, and apples, one ingredient at a time. Press the juice through a fine-mesh strainer into a carafe or pitcher, discarding the pulp.

Add the lime juice and stir to incorporate.

Pour the beverage into the glasses. Garnish with 3 small dots of Black seed oil. Serve and drink immediately.

*Notes:

If you do not have a juicer, I did this at home by blending the ingredients with coconut water. For a naturally sweeter juice, try lacinato kale. This juice tasted better the next day once it had sat overnight.

Will you become wealthy or die trying? Many people spend a lifetime talking about the life they want. What will you do?
