Beautiful review and take. You’re right when you say it is a story that stays with you a bit. I find myself still thinking about what it means to feel and live life in shame and how much it does rob you and others of a potentially more fulfilling life. I think in some ways, not really certain how, shame can be used as a motivator, to show up more authentically, lovingly and surely of oneself. As a queer person, I can sympathize with shame but just like everything, we shouldn’t sit in it too long. I read somewhere that shame is man-made and that I’m also still sitting with!
Anje, thank you so much for sharing your perspective and experience. I empathize with those who have to live in shame for fear of retribution. We should never sit in anything too long rather it be fear, greed, complacency, even bliss. Too long = stagnant = never growing. I always say I know comfortability by knowing what it means to be uncomfortable. I'm happy you enjoyed my read and hope you enjoy many more articles to come!
